D.I.Y. Playdough Recipe

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

Playdough is a huge hit, it never fails! It's perfect when you need a moment of silence, it's dirt cheap, or if you are not in the mood to drive to the store just for playdough - the recipe pretty much calls for things you already have on hand! Win, Win! Here is my no fail recipe that I have used time and time again. I have colored it with food coloring, seasonings (paprika, turmeric, coco powder, etc.), or left it, as is, without coloring it at all. The kids never seem to mind either way!

YOU WILL NEED:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup table salt

2 Tbsp cream of tartar

1 Tbsp oil

1 cup boiling water

food coloring

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Mix well.

Add the oil.

Mix a few drop of food coloring into the boiling water, and add to the bowl.

Mix everything very well and massage with your hand until it is no longer sticky.

STORAGE:

Wait for the play dough to cool completely. Wrap in plastic and place in an air tight container. Store at room temperature for up to 6 months.
