About Us:
My name is TaLisa, I am the founder and educator here in This Little Home of Mine. I first opened my licensed childcare in 2020 as a means for being able to work from home while continuing to be a stay-at-home mom.
As my love for childcare grew and I began incorporating nature-based play into my program, I discovered a sense of awe and wonder in the children. These days, my mission is to create opportunities for unstructured free time, child-led play, and nature-based exploration regardless of weather or season, in order to empower children to trust their own observations, express their ideas, and discover a deep connection to the natural world.
-
The children in This Little Home of Mine actively engage in moderately risky activities such as climbing, balancing, and running on uneven ground.
-
We operate well below the North Dakota childcare ratio regulations in order to honor the children and be able to be fully present with each child.
-
We use a daily rhythm that allows for flexibility.
What Makes Us Special:
A Nurturing Guide
Now, more than ever, I recognize the need for children to have a beautiful, safe, and nurturing home environment, filled with singing and dancing, art, storytelling, practical life skills, and hours of deep imaginative free play - especially in nature. This Little Home of Mine will offer your child a safe environment to learn and grow at their own pace, during all transitions throughout childhood. Through stimulating situations, hands-on learning opportunities, and free play, your children are free to develop into bright young minds.
Handpicked Adventures
I offer a variety of adventures that aim to promote children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Including safe, developmentally appropriate and stimulating environments for infants to school-age children. By incorporating hands-on experiences in order to teach about plants, animals, ecosystems, and conservation, it is my mission to foster a connection between your children and the environment, inspiring a sense of responsibility and wonder for the earth’s natural resources.
Hikes & Quiet Destinations
Through long hikes, a daily sit-spot, and unstructured free time filled with child-led play and nature-based exploration, regardless of weather or season, your children will feel empowered to trust their own observations, express their ideas, and discover a deep connection to the natural world. By allowing child-driven and interest-led inquiries, children develop feelings of love and nurturing towards the land.
